Thuliswa Nozombile has worked as a Lab Assistant at AECI SprayPave in Parow since 2019. She enjoyed chemistry as school, in particular the laboratory work, so a career in science seemed far more interesting than working in an office.

Her interest was rewarded when she got to join the Transnet Freight Rail (Bellville) Techno Girls programme as a Trainee during her school holidays between 2012 and 2014. Thuli went on to obtain her National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.

She says her work at AECI SprayPave gives her the satisfaction of being organised in the laboratory, staying on track and following safety procedures. “It also helps me to be organised in life,” she adds.

Thuli sees some change in taking place in the industry and believes things have improved for women but need to continue improving.

AECI SprayPave is part of the AECI Much Asphalt group.
