Precious Magudulela is a Chemical Engineering Diploma graduate from the Durban University of Technology. “My career journey started as a laboratory assistant at AECI Spraypave Durban branch in 2017. The knowledge and skills I acquired enabled me to grow into a Laboratory Technician and I’m now based at Alrode branch in the Research and Development Department.

“I enjoy working in a team to solve problems. The challenges that come with researching and developing products give me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally.”

In high school Precious enjoyed maths and physics. “I’ve always been fascinated by how science improves our daily lives. Chemical engineering allows one to work on projects that solve problems and benefit humanity.”

She urges young women with the same interests to follow their dreams to help break the cycle of gender discrimination in technical career fields. “Diversity if often overlooked when it comes to hiring. I would like to see improvements in hiring and promoting of women in technical roles at all levels.”
