LEADING BY EXAMPLE

Eddie Jansen van Vuuren, Director of AECI SprayPave, leads from the front on the important issue of environmental responsibility. Concerned about bituminous waste landing up in landfills, Eddie got to work to see how waste bitumen could be either recovered or disposed of safely. He assembled a team to build a bitumen drum decanter and heating procedure to recover the bitumen from drums for reuse. As a result, less bitumen waste and fewer steel drums in landfills. His efforts were recognised in the SABITA CEO Merit Awards, where he was named joint winner of the annual HSE Award.
